Hellen van Berkel Smiley Face Broch

The smiling face, in the form of a yellow button (a pin-on badge) with two eyes and a semicircle for a mouth, was commissioned in 1963 by Harvey Ball, for an insurance company. The smiley has since become a phenomenon in internet culture, with many images, animations and other representations.
